New Video
I almost forgot, the new video is up, here it is!
Sans Francisco?
Tentatively considering the name “Sans Francisco” for the Band formation of my music instead of “Dr. Kevorkian and the Necrophiliacs”

Thoughts About Things
So, the first Dr. Kevorkian and the Necrophiliacs show went rather well I think. Aside from the bad acoustics we gave a really good performance. We played like 4 or 5 new songs and made one up on stage (The Pizza Song). My friend Estevan recorded the show but the audio didn’t come out so well. I forgot how much I like performing, and I can’t wait to again. Hint hint, give us a show.
Sorry I’ve been bad about putting up new videos and other content, its just… I would definately say this is the most creative period in my life so far. I’ve written so many songs with patrick. He just kind of brings out the music in me. So like, I haven’t had time to record any videos or whatever. Thats kind of why I’m posting old unreleased recordings on this blog. Just to give you something to listen to.
Also I just want to assure you that this project is pretty much Matt Sevrens, but better. I don’t want you to not listen because it seems like a side project or something. I imagine that if the project dissolved I’d continue to play these songs. The usage of another name is for two reasons: a) I like playing in a band and b) to give Patrick the credit he is due. He definately writes some of the best hooks in the songs plus brings in a special something.
Hopefully we’ll record soon. We need a mic and I’m working on that but we’ll see. Until then if you live in the Davis area, you’ll just have to come down to one of the shows.
New Unreleased Recording
So anyways, heres your new recording. This comes from a set of recordings I did with my friend Jason Linder. It was the first time I actually payed money to record ($300!) but I was really unhappy with the final and I don’t think it really wowed anyone. The only song I used was Running High, which I made a video with which you can see: here. Even that recording I don’t think captures Running High accurately. I think one of the reasons I didn’t release these recordings is I just wasn’t that excited about them. I mean I was excited about the songs, I think the songs were awesome, but I didn’t go crazy wanting to play the tracks over and over again.
This track is called “Three Turns Right” because it takes three turns right to make a left get it? Its like, not going in circles, because you’re not taking that fourth right, but more like doing as much as you can to not go forward. Its about arbitrarity and being so locked up in your head that you can’t do anything. This was the first time I recorded a song before letting anyone hear it and I don’t think it really worked out that well. My sister who normally likes my music, didn’t like the song calling it “hookless” and of the hundreds of songs I’ve showed her, she’s only not liked two. So that says alot. But I think that song still has a purpose. I like it for what it is. If it was recorded right I think it would work. Anyways I’m blabbering though so just listen for yourself
Amazing Picture At Bottom
A few of you may know that I’m pretty much straight out of the ghetto. Aside from the shed that I record in, my car is a piece of shit, but there has been a new development which makes me realize just how amazing the car is.
To begin with let me take you through a tour of my car. As you can see over the cars 20 year life it has has sustained a lot of damage. The back front and side have been hit multiple times, and the door handle has been broken off. The most memorable collision was when i hit the front on the first day of work delivering pizza (I also got a ticket while delivering that first so I cut my losses and quit after one day)
As we continue around the car we notice more damage but wait… what’s that? Lets zoom in.
Holy shit. That is a fucking plant. A plant germinating in the back of my car. Also a huge fucking bug.
If you’re having trouble understanding how this happened let me explain it.
1. During fall, various leaves and sticks fell onto my car and got stuck in the crevasse of my trunk.
2. During winter, rain fell down and with the added heat from the car, the leaves began to decompose leaving dirt.
3. As spring set on, somehow seeds fell down there and began germinating. Now there’s a forest in the back of my car.
You know, I think I’ll keep it. I want to see what kind of plant it is. Plus I can’t destroy a living ecosystem! Those plants are desperately trying to offset my carbon emissions.
Bl(ah)g
In continuation of my unreleased recordings blogs, I turn to a song that I’ve never quite been able to get right: Song for this Story (for reference go: here). I think I’ve gone through more recordings/arrangements for this song than any other song. Rather than post every recording in one blog (who would listen to 4 tracks in a row?) I’ll do these one at a time.
The first recording of this song is actually my favorite recording (note that I say recording not arrangement) but most people haven’t heard it. It features Paul Watkins on trumpet and Jason Abrams on piano.
Honestly, I really like the recording but it’s not how I hear it in my head. I hear it as more as a full band thing with drums and lots of energy, and if you check back here you will hear some of my attempts at that sound in my head.
In Other News
I’m bored. No not really, I just haven’t felt motivated to do new videos. I’ve been writing a LOT. Like a lot. Honestly, I never take breaks from doing something. Like I always am either doing videos, doing recordings, writing songs, playing shows or other stuff (like writing this blog). So… yeah. I have like 5 really good songs with Patrick, though if you want to hear those you’ll have to come down to the Coho next tuesday at 5:30. We want to record a demo, but you know how tricky that is. I also want to do a new video, a new original maybe I’ll do one tonight I don’t know.
Blah Blah Blah thats it I don’t know.

Hookers on Bridges
A lot of people talk about burning your bridges (destroying relationships), but what if you just never build your bridges very well (weak friendships)? Then when you don’t maintain these bridges by painting them and shit (don‘t talk to people for a little while), they sort of fall apart. Then there’s all this rotting wood (drama) in the water and to build a new bridge you’d have to do a lot of clean up so its not really worth it. Plus there are plenty of other places to build bridges so why do it there?
I mean, that’s a really literal metaphor but still, the fact of the matter is some people just aren’t that good at building bridges. We’d all love to build these steel bridges that last forever (BFFs!) and don’t burn down but in reality we mostly just kind of throw an old tire in the water, and toss some trash over it (Aaron) and hope its passable. And, maintaining a bridge can be hard, who wants to do that? Unless there are like free hookers on the bridge and candy and marijuana (really awesome friendship).
Anyways, here’s the new video. It features Patrick Hanners on vocals. I posted it as a cover on youtube even though its an original by my new band (te he) so try not to give it away. I want to see how many people ask for the original
